About Emily Ward
Artist Statement
I am a multidisciplinary artist from Mechanicsburg, PA, and my work explores the intersection of emotion, form, and language. With a background in engineering and fine arts, I integrate precision and creativity into my practice, transforming intuitive sketches into large-scale wall sculptures. Using movement and color, they convey the complexities of human emotions, such as fear, love, and release, through an evolving visual language.
My current practice emerged in the summer of 2024, influenced by a multimedia drawing from 2022 and pages from my sketchbooks. This discovery led me to explore the transformation of flat, two-dimensional images into winding sculptural forms. The planning and technical methods behind each piece are just as crucial as the final work. From initial sketches to digital rendering and physical construction, my process is deeply rooted in reflection, allowing space for emotions to shift and take shape throughout each stage.
